چکیده
Artificial capillary barriers (CBs) are used to improve root zone conditions as they can keep water and nutrients in the by limiting downward percolation. Numerical analysis is one of promising tools for evaluating CB systems’ performance during cultivation leafy vegetables. This study aims investigate effects system on soil dynamics spinach a column under different irrigation scenarios using HYDRUS (2D/3D) comparing uniform (UNI), line-source (LSI), plant-targeted (PTI) irrigations combined with alternative schedules. Simulation results volumetric contents were generally corresponding measured data. various hypothetical exhibited that was an effective diminish percolation losses zone’s storage capacity. On other hand, evaporation loss be increased more maintained near surface. While this significantly minimized reducing application area, amount must carefully defined because applying smaller area may accelerate movement so content at interface reach close saturation. In addition malfunction layer, it also cause reduction plant uptake (RWU) too wet. Among evaluated scenarios, irrigating every two days PTI best scenario use efficiency greatly improved.

Dynamics of Soil Water Evaporation during Soil Drying: Laboratory Experiment and Numerical Analysis
Laboratory and numerical experiments were conducted to investigate the evolution of soil water evaporation during a continuous drying event. Simulated soil water contents and temperatures by the calibrated model well reproduced measured values at different depths. Results show that the evaporative drying process could be divided into three stages, beginning with a relatively high evaporation ra...

متن کاملAnalysis of Microbial Diversity in Soil under Ginger Cultivation
Ginger is a perennial monocotyledonous herb, which can be used as both a vegetable and a medicinal plant. However, it is susceptible to various plant pathogens. Microbial diversity in soil is related closely to the health and productivity of plant crops including ginger. In the current study, we compared microbial diversity from soil samples under ginger cultivation (disease incidence of >50% [...
متن کاملDeveloping a soil quality index to compare soil fitness for agricultural use under different managements in the Mediterranean environment
Due to increasing land-use pressures, soil-quality assessment is in growing demand, thus a standard set of procedures to assign a soil quality index (SQI) would be beneficial. In this study, the effectiveness of different managements in upholding soil quality (for crop productivity) was compared using soil quality indicators incorporated systematically to determine a SQI. The managements includ...
متن کاملSoil Phosphorus Dynamics under Sprinkler and Furrow Irrigation
Furrow irrigation detaches and transports soil particles and subsequently nutrients such as phosphorus (P). To reduce the risk of erosion and offsite P movement, producers can convert from furrow to sprinkler irrigation. We completed research on soil P dynamics in furrow versus sprinkler irrigated soils from four paired fields in south central Idaho. Surface soils (0-2.5 inches) were obtained f...
